Most of us have turned to baking for comfort during lockdown.
And over the past few weeks, we’ve seen all kinds of new and exciting recipes emerge – from how to make clotted cream in a slow cooker to Lotus biscoff lasagne.
Now, M&S has released a new recipe which features one of its most sought-after sweet treats – Percy Pigs.
Another positive is that the recipe – which was developed with food blogger Plates of Tate – is incredibly straightforward.
Those looking to give it a go at home will need a 40g knob of butter, 250g of mini marshmallows, 100g of Rice Krispies (or any rice pop cereal), the M&S Percy Pig strawberry dessert sauce and a bag of Percy Pigs.
Budding bakers should start by lining a square tin with baking parchment and melt butter in a saucepan, over a low heat.
When it’s melted, add 150g of marshmallows and the strawberry sauce.
Afterwards, mix it together and add the cereal and the chopped-up Percy Pigs.
Once stirred together, pop the mixture in the tin and decorate with the remaining marshmallows. Then chill in the fridge for a minimum of four hours.
The supermarket shared the method on its PR Instagram page, with the caption: ‘Move over banana bread … this weekend we’re making Percy Pig Crispy Bars!’
Naturally, fans were quick to comment on the new creation.
One happy follower replied: ‘Ooooh game changer right there.’
Someone else added: ‘Wow melty percy and marshmallow yummy.’
Another excitable fan commented: ‘Yes please!!! Send them my way.’
While another added: ‘These are cute.’
In other baking news, people are making doughnut cereal in lockdown – along with pancake cereal.
Similarly, cookie fries are another sweet treat people are attempting at home.
